Our Mission
Shows That Teach specializes in assembly performances which educate and motivate elementary school students. Yes, we do indeed have shows that are ideal for libraries, summer camps, theaters and community events. However our performers have many years and hundreds of performances of experience inspiring k-5 and k-6 grade audiences.
We are proud of our nitch. As explained in the page 10 reasons to schedule through us, we consult with hundreds of teachers, parent leaders, and principals to determine the preferred topics and performing styles.
We respect that teachers utilize detailed lesson plans on a daily basis to help their students attain skills and knowledge for their next level of education. That is the teacher’s job and not really our mission. Perhaps our company should have been named Shows That Motivate, because that is really our emphasis. Our goal is to help educators and parents make light bulbs turn on in a student’s mind to illuminate a new possibility or to gain a level of new maturity.
We want a sixth grader to understand that people who have accomplished something truly great had a goal and did not give up on their dreams.
We want a Kindergartener to realize that a plastic bottle was made from a natural resource and should not be wasted by sticking it in a landfill for hundreds of years.
We want a fourth grader to recognize that if they continue to make fun of how a classmate dresses that they are being a bully.
We want a second grader to understand that not doing homework is irresponsible and leads to bigger problems.
Each of our programs aligns with the California Standards of Education in science, social studies, music or other subjects. And we do also have strictly curriculum based programs. However, we recognize that we need to help teachers and parents with ongoing task on nurturing not just smart people but good people who can work and play together.
Our mission is to inspire students and teachers.
